OUT NOW: Pet Shop Boys, DISCOVERY (LIVE IN RIO)
The Pet Shop Boys have reached back to the mid-1990s to unearth an absolutely brilliant live show from the heart of Brazil. Originally released solely on VHS back in the day, Discovery: Live in Rio 1994 is a stunning testament to the musical and performance powers of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe when armed with a full arsenal stage production. Backed by four dancers, backing singer Katie Kissoon and two Latin percussionists, the group was able to embrace spontaneity in a way they never had before.
Now lovingly recast across a pair of CDs and a DVD, the Pet Shop Boys roll out inspired renditions of such classics as "West End Girls," "Being Boring," "Rent," and "Suburbia." The show is highlighted by a brilliant version of Blur's "Girls and Boys" that is arguably better than the original. The package also includes a booklet featuring candid on-tour photographs, an interview by Chris Heath conducted during tour rehearsals, and an exclusive on-tour diary by Neil Tennant.
