What’s That Song? Judy Collins “Both Sides Now” in Toy Story 4

If you haven’t seen the trailer for Toy Story 4 yet, then we can only offer you one piece of advice: stop reading this article immediately and go watch it. This is partly to provide you with a frame of reference for the remainder of the piece, but it’s also because, c’mon, you know you want to watch it…

Pretty great, right? Granted, it’s a long wait for the actual film to hit theaters, but just knowing that it’s forthcoming is pretty awesome. But we’d guess that some of you have been left with one lingering question beyond whether or not Don Rickles was able to record his dialogue for the film before he died, and that question is, “What’s the song that’s playing throughout the trailer?”

First of all, yes, you really should already know it, but we’ll still tell you anyway: it’s Judy Collins, and the song is “Both Sides Now,” which was famously penned by Joni Mitchell. Although there’s no question that Mitchell’s version is top-notch, it’s Collins who made the biggest impact with the track, so much so that many people don’t actually realize that Mitchell wrote it.
