Album of the Day

On its third studio album, THE LAND OF RAPE AND HONEY, Ministry perfected the fusion of metal and industrial music for which it is best known. With the addition of bassist-keyboardist Paul Barker, frontman Al Jourgensen had a worthy partner to bring the noise, and the aural assault of churning grooves, harsh electric guitar riffs and abrasive samples blazed a trail that bands like Nine Inch Nails and Slipknot would soon follow. Opener “Stigmata” is perhaps Ministry's most famous song, though such tracks as “The Missing” and “Deity” are equally powerful. Jourgensen recently called THE LAND OF RAPE AND HONEY his favorite Ministry album, and today we'll give the gold-certified collection another spin in honor of his birthday.
