Most artists as successful as Enya have at least one Christmas album in them, and most of the time, they're fairly predictable round-ups of the usual religious and secular standards. While AND WINTER CAME... does include a fine cover of “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” the rest of the 2008 Reprise collection features original material penned by Enya. Featuring layers of lush harmonies and keyboard washes as deep as a snowpack on such selections as “White Is In The Winter Night” and “Trains And Winter Rains,” the New Age hitmaker's trademark multi-tracked production fits these songs like a glove. With the feel of a concept album, AND WINTER CAME... really stands out from the Christmas crowd, which may be one reason it's sold more than 3 million copies.
